There's lots to do during your visit in any season.

Spring Get on the river!    Whitewater raft  the Hudson and Sacandaga.   Canoe the Hudson from near the Lodge through mostly undeveloped terrain.
  Take a hike (area 12) on one of many trails at the Lodge or just a short drive away.  We will lend you guide books and maps.

hummingbird at the feeder From late April through June the birds are building nests and raising their young.  The property surrounding Country Road Lodge is the home to more than 80 species of birds (counted recently by a birding couple from England, who added 15 to their own "life list.")  The Adirondack Park has been designated as an "Important Bird Area" by the American Bird Conservancy.  You might also want to check out the "ice meadows" along the Hudson, with their unique flora.  

Summer

a Lake George cruise on the Minnihaha Take a cruise on Lake George and enjoy some of the East’s most beautiful scenery,  learn about local history and see the mansions of the "Great & Gracious. " Rainy days do happen in the Adirondacks, but they give you an excuse to visit
 the Hyde Collection, the best little art museum in the state, open year-round.

You will want to save a whole sunny day for  the Adirondack Museum, the "Smithsonian of the Adirondacks," at Blue Mt. Lake.  Closer by, The Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum is located on one of the most beautiful, lakeshore properties, left as it was at the turn-of-the-20th century.

 

 

Be sure to save time to stroll our garden walks, listen for the birds and the flow of water in the brook and river, or just laze in the sun or the shade of our towering pines.  Scattered throughout our grounds are some of the ceramic works of our friend, noted sculptor, Bruno LaVerdiere.  irises blooming in one of our perennial beds

Winter

Enjoy the quiet stillness of a winter day, the crunch of snow under foot, birds flitting into the feeder... Put on your skis or snowshoes and check out our nature paths and wilderness trails, or just take a walk along the road and breath the clean, crisp air. Great ways to start your day (after a hearty breakfast, of course) before venturing out to Warren County XC Trails, Pack Forest, or one of the facilities described below.  
Gore Mountain Ski Center, the fabulous state downhill ski area, is just 30 minutes from Country Road Lodge. Enjoy short lift lines on the eight-passenger gondola or six chair lifts serving sixty-five trails, all with snow-maiking, on three mountains, from beginner to double-diamond expert!  Contact us for Midweek Ski & Stay Packages that include lifts .
Or ski West Mountain, a half-hour to the south, with extensive intermediate trails,  snow-making and night skiing!

Ski Cross Country, right out our door, ungroomed trails along the river on old logging roads, 15 minutes away on Warren County's XC trails or in the Charles Lathrop Pack Demonstration Forest.

You will find beautifully groomed, 55 kilometers of cross-country trails at Garnet Hill Ski Touring Center, the state's premier ski touring center, on a mountaintop in North River. Full facilities include rentals, ski shop, lessons, cafeteria and warm-up.

 

At the end of the day you will find several FINE RESTAURANTS right in Warrensburg.
The Grist Mill (623-8005), The Merrill Magee House (623-2449) and Brunetto’s (623-1041) are just 10 minutes away.
Within 20 minutes are numerous additional restaurants and fast food places. Weekends in season can be especially busy
at these restaurants. You might wish to make a reservation well in advance of your visit.
